What angry Ally McCoist text Jim White as Rangers hero lets rip after Ajax disaster

Broadcaster Jim White has revealed gutted Ally McCoist texted him amid his severe Rangers frustration, after letting rip on punditry duty.

The Ibrox icon pulled no punches as he sounded off during BT Sports' coverage and took aim at Ryan Kent and the slapstick defending which left Gio van Bronckhorst reeling. But now White has told followers of the Ibrox club McCoist's ire didn't end with his brutal broadcast analysis.

White watched his pal tear shreds off Rangers and admits he got a personal message from McCoist shortly after. Speaking on talkSPORT, he claimed: "I saw Ally McCoist. He was on the BT Sport last night. I'm unaccustomed to seeing Ally getting very upset about a Rangers performance, but he was. He messaged me to say, 'I am so angry by I what I've seen'. I think about attitude, about they way they went about, and not for the first time, a sizeable Rangers support follows them into Europe and they are let down by what they watched."

"Now, of course, last season they went very deep and almost got to the end of what would have been a wonderful campaign, as they got to Europa League Final in Seville, but last night it was woeful, they start off in Ajax, and if they are going to on that way, one wonders where they are going to pick up points?"

Meanwhile, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan fears van Bronckhorst faces a severe challenge to get Rangers right after consecutive trouncings.

The Europa League finalists are reeling in the wake of a second consecutive 4-0 drubbing after they were torn to shreds by Alfred Schreuder's side. Jordan - who correctly predicted Celtic would wipe the floor with their rivals - reckons there maybe problems ahead for the Dutchman. Van Bronckhorst doesn't have his problems to seek and the big fixtures keep coming for Rangers as they travel to face Aberdeen on Saturday before they host a buoyant Napoli fresh from their stunning 4-1 beatdown of Liverpool. However, Jordan shared some sympathy after Bronckhorst claimed his team can't compete due to finances.

He said: "In fairness to him, I do think he is going to struggle with this job, I've felt he's going to struggle with this job for some time, because I think the domestic form isn't good enough, and they came off the back of a hiding to Celtic, which even a luddite like me called out and suggested it was coming their way, and so it did.

"Let's be fair, it is a massive step up in the Champions League, they got their by a great run of Europe and the way the scenarios dropped in their favour. It worked for them, in that perspective. What they have got from it is the building opportunity to not allow Celtic to disappear domestically with a great big bag of money because to the Champions League and, ultimately, Rangers being disadvantaged by that. We mustn't lose sight of that.

"Going into a Champions League draw, where Ajax despite selling players to Manchester United, have also bought some quality and their spend pattern is far greater than Rangers. Their performances in the Champions League over the past two or three season have been pretty significant. He has an argument, you're competing against people with both hands tied behind your back and trying to knock them the world out with your chin. What you would like to see is a little bit more than a 4-0 defeat.

"You do look at it and say where can they get points? You look at Napoli ripping Liverpool a new one, if they go through Liverpool like that, they will go Rangers like that."
