Ally McCoist says he was brutally honest with Ange Postecoglou ahead of Sunday's derby.
But he conceded the Celtic boss had the last laugh when the two met for the first time at Ibrox.
The Rangers hero was seen embracing the Australian in a heartwarming moment ahead of the huge clash in Govan.
The two appeared to be in good humour as they shared a hug before the sides clashed with Celtic running out 2-1 winners.
Speaking on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, McCoist revealed exactly what he said to the Parkhead boss.
And while he initially tried to wish him well, he did a quick U-turn when Postecoglou asked if he was serious.
Chris Sutton goaded McCoist by joking the touching moment with Postecoglou was just like his infamous fiery meeting with Neil Lennon.
And McCoist responded: "Not really, no.
"I met Ange for the first time before the game, I wished him all the very best.
"He said 'do you mean that?'
"I said 'not really, no, you know fine well I don't.'
"That's exactly how it went, actually! He was in great form, I have to say.
"His team continued the form he was on in that particular game because Celtic were comfortable."
