What Aaron Ramsdale did to upset Richarlison before Tottenham supporter kicked Arsenal man

Arsenal stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points after defeating their north London rivals Tottenham 2-0. However, the end result was tarnished after full-time when a Spurs spectator kicked Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Following an altercation between the England international and Richarlison, Ramsdale headed towards his goal to collect his water bottle where the spectator launched the attack. Fortunately, the strike did not connect with the 24-year-old.

After the game, Ramsdale was questioned on the bizarre incident and the goalkeeper provided his side of things. "The Spurs fans were giving me some throughout the second half and I gave them some back which, to the few people that I did do it too, was well greeted," he said.

"Then a fan tried to jump over and give me a kick in the back. That's what happened and it's a shame because it's just a game of football at the end of the day.

Both sets of players tried bringing me away. Thankfully nothing actually happened too drastically, but it's a sour taste. But I'm sure we'll enjoy it when we go back in," he added.

But what exactly did Ramsdale do prior to the incident to prompt the reaction from Richarlison at the end of the game?

Footage captured from Sky Sports shows that the goalkeeper gave the Tottenham supporters in the South stand some stick following the final whistle before kissing the Arsenal badge on his shirt. The Brazilian was not a fan of Ramsdale's antics and nudged him before pushing his hand in the shot-stopper's face.

Tottenham have since released a statement on the incident. It read: "We are appalled by the behaviour of a supporter that attempted to attack Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the end of today’s match. Violence in any form has no place in football.

"The club has reviewed its CCTV footage to identify the supporter and will be working with the Met Police, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale to take the strongest possible action, including an immediate ban from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium."

The FA, Premier League and PFA have also all issued statements on the matter, issuing strong condemnation of the behaviour from the fan.
