Leeds United supporters are celebrating the club’s dramatic final day survival after their 2-1 win at Brentford – and Burnley’s defeat against Newcastle – ensured they avoided finishing in the relegation zone. It brought a fittingly hectic end to a season that many Whites fans may well be keen to forget.
Raphinha and Jack Harrison were the heroes on the day as their goals, either side of a Sergi Canos equaliser, brought safety in the best possible way. Raphinha made no mistake from the penalty spot after being brought down by David Raya in the box before Harrison unleashed a late rocket to make absolute sure of survival.
Callum Wilson and Newcastle did Leeds a huge favour at Turf Moor by beating Burnley 2-1. It brought an end to the Clarets’ six-year stay in the Premier League as they joined Norwich and Watford as the teams in the relegation zone.
