'What a day' - Manchester United fans go wild as Glazers explore possible sale as Cristiano Ronaldo departs

Manchester United fans have revelled in the news that the Glazers are reportedly preparing to sell the club after 17 years of ownership.

The chants of ' Glazers Out' have been a constant backdrop to United games before the World Cup break, with no sign of the fan unrest over the American owners disappearing anytime soon. The supporters have been keen to ensure that the club's signing of Antony from Ajax this summer did not distract from the wider problems they've faced.

Sky News reported that the Glazers are now 'preparing to formally announce its intention to examine potential sources of outside investment', which could include a full sale of the club. United have not commented on the reports yet, but the news will be an enormous relief to fans around the world.

United supporters have been begging the Glazer family to relinquish control of their club, with the news of British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe's potential interest stirring up excitement among fans. Former captain Gary Neville has been very vocal in his criticism of the club's American owners, as pressure continues to mount for a sale to be made.

The news comes weeks after reports emerged that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were putting Liverpool up for sale, as the club's owners look to invite offers from interested parties. The American organisation, principally owned by John W. Henry, could now possibly oversee another takeover of a major Premier League side following the Todd Boehly-led purchase of Chelsea.

The door now appears to have opened for the Glazers to finally consider letting go of the club, as fans took to social media to rejoice at the news they have longed to hear.
