Pool play has come and gone and now it’s time for the Sweet 16 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club in Texas.
Some big names were sent home packing, including Jordan Spieth who lost to Shane Lowry on Friday and will now beginning his preparation for the Masters.
This week is the first time at least four of the top six seeds have advanced from pool play since the format changed in 2015. The only one to not make it through was world No. 2 Jon Rahm who went 1-2-0.
After the Round of 16, the eight winners will play their quarterfinal matches Saturday afternoon. Sunday consists of the semifinal matches, the third-place match and the final.

No. 5 Max Homa vs. No. 50 Mackenzie Hughes
Homa automatically advanced from pool play Friday morning when his Day 3 opponent Hideki Matsuyama withdrew from the event due to injury. This is the first time Homa has advanced to the Round of 16. Hughes advanced with a 2-1-0 record after beating Taylor Montgomery in a playoff.

No. 4 Patrick Cantlay vs. No. 13 Sam Burns
One of two Saturday matches consisting of 2022 Presidents Cup team members. Both players went undefeated in pool play (3-0-0).

No. 32 Jason Day vs. No. 59 Matt Kuchar
Day (3-0-0) and Kuchar (2-0-1) went undefeated in pool play. With his victory on Friday, Kuchar tied Tiger Woods’ record of 36 match wins at the Match Play. Both players have won this event.

No. 1 Scottie Scheffler vs. No. 43 J.T. Poston
The best player in the world (3-0-0) is looking to make the finals for the third straight year. Scheffler is the defending champion in Austin. Poston also went 3-0-0 in pool play.

No. 6 Xander Schauffele vs. No. 61 J.J. Spaun
Both players went undefeated (3-0-0) in pool play.

No. 3 Rory McIlroy vs. No. 46 Lucas Herbert
McIlroy is the first player since the format changed in 2015 to go 3-0-0 in pool play three times. Herbert, who missed out on advancing through pool play last year after losing in a playoff, went 3-0-0 this time around.

No. 19 Kurt Kitayama vs. No. 56 Andrew Putnam
The 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational champ outlasted Tony Finau and Adrian Meronk in a sudden-death playoff Friday to move on. Kitayama was 2-1-0 in pool while Putnam was an undefeated 3-0-0.

No. 12 Cameron Young vs. No. 22 Billy Horschel
The two members of the 2022 U.S. Presidents Cup team will face off Saturday morning. Horschel took down Jon Rahm 5 and 4 Friday to advance. Horschel was 2-0-1 in pool play while Young went 3-0-0.
