Wetherspoons meal 'that would fail GCSE home economics' shared by unhappy customer

According to one disgruntled customer Wetherspoons would "fail GCSE home economics" after being left disappointed by his "grim meal", MyLondon reports. Twitter user Greg Owen complained about his experience at The Red Lion JD Wetherspoon pub in Gatwick Airport's North Terminal.

Greg ordered the Empire State Burger on his visit, which is one of the more expensive mains on the menu as it features a burger with two beef patties, American-style cheese and maple bacon plus sides of chips and onion rings. The dish received some publicity for totalling a whopping calorie count of over 1,900, with one employee saying it is one of the meals you should never order from Spoons.

Greg shared a picture of his meal on Twitter, with the burger pulled apart to reveal a pair of thoroughly burnt patties and globs of cheese inside. He wrote: "Eating in the Red Lion (Weatherspoons) in Gatwick (N) is never a “great” experience. However, tonight’s offering is particularly grim. The person who “cooked” this abomination would fail GCSE level home economics cookery. Utterly disastrous."

He added that "the chips are squishy and the burgers are crunchy - quite a feat. Almost defies the laws of physics." Other Twitter users humorously joined in to critique, with one writing: "Those burgers look like they should be extras in the Walking Dead."

A second said: "I mean you did go to spoons, what were you expecting." A third wrote: "Expecting good food at Weatherspoons is a tall order but their airport ‘restaurants’ are an abomination."

Others asked how Greg could "get on a plane" after eating the meal, or questioned why he had chosen The Red Lion for his meal in the first place. He said the decision was made due to "Tiredness and a lapse of judgement."
