Wetherspoon punters could win £5,000 if they're served a 'golden straw' this summer

JD Wetherspoon fans could bag themselves quite the cash prize this summer if they find a certain item being served with their drinks. Punters can be in with the chance of winning £5,000 if they spot a golden straw in their beverage over the next few months.

Premium spirit maker, Au Vodka, has joined forces with the popular British pub chain to dish out the prize money to three lucky winners. Co-founder, Charlie Morgan, informed punters of the jackpot in an Instagram post.

Explaining what customers need to look out for, he said: "For your chance to win £5,000 this summer, just go to Wetherspoons and buy a Au Vodka Candy Rosá. If you find the golden straw, you win £5,000 and me, personally deliver it to you.

"How about that? Now check out that cash!" All fans need to do to be in with a chance is order a pitcher of Au Vodka Candy Rosá at their local Wetherspoon pub.

Charlie continued: "The lucky winners buying the Au Vodka Candy Rosá pitcher who are served with the unique Au Vodka golden-coloured straw at the winning time and location will win a £5,000 prize - Good Luck!" The giveaway is on until September 30, 2023, as reported by the Mirror.

However, there is one key point to bare in mind, the promotion does not include Wetherspoon pubs in airports, nor in Beaconsfield, Leicester Square in London, Windsor and the Republic of Ireland.

Many people headed to the comment section of the co-founder's post to share their reaction. Kieranwhitakerr replied: "Game changer." Mandymitch23 quipped: "Bartender could just put the straw in a friend's drink."

Cofiemarlon added: "Putting a lot of trust in the spoons workers." Imrobertoo joked: "Ffs, as if I needed an easy excuse to go." Alexandra wrote: "I live by about seven Wetherspoons. We need clues."

It comes as the South Wales company Au Vodka have been named one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. The popular Swansea drinks brand appeared in the new Sunday Times 100 rankings revealed on Friday, June 30.

Au Vodka was started back in 2016 by friends Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn who last year spoke to WalesOnline about how they spotted a gap in the market by creating their own eye-catching gold bottles of vodka. They now make 35,000 bottles daily.
