Westlife paused their concert in order to pay tribute to their bandmate Mark Feehily, who has fallen ill during their tour. Mark confirmed he was struck down with pneumonia and had to cancel a few shows.
The singer recently posted a lengthy explanation as to why he was forced to pull out of their recent shows and apologised to fans but said he hoped to be back on the road soon, writes The Mirror. During their The Wild Dreams Tour show in Sheffiled on Monday night, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne opened with Starlight and Uptown Girl.
Shane then paused the performance to tell fans that sadly Mark wouldn't be joining them. He said: "We are a man down tonight. We spoke to him today, he is OK. He wants Sheffield to be Mark tonight. We are going to send him all our love."
The trio then began singing their next songs, including Fool Again, If I Let You Go, My Love and Swear It Again. According to Yorkshire Live, at one point, the boys stopped performing to film a sweet message for Mark from the crowd.
The band asked for the lights to be turned down so that people can shine their phone lights and chant: "We love you, Mark. And we miss you!" It comes after Mark shared an update on his health with fans online.
He wrote: "Firstly, I'd like to say a huge sincere thank you to everybody for sending their and get well soon messages - it means so much. I was really gutted to miss the weekend shows in Newcastle but I started to feel quite unwell on Friday and that doctors have confirmed that it is a bout of pneumonia.
"I know it's scary when you first hear the word 'Pneumonia', but thankfully, I got to the doctor and the hospital very quickly and got on the antibiotics as soon as possible - so everything is currently under control. I have been informed that the quickest way to recovery is to rest and continue the antibiotics.
"I'm feeling a bit better everyday. The nurses and doctors are taking amazing care of me so it should all be over in no time. This does however mean missing more gigs which is horrible but I'll be back on stage as soon as I can get the all clear."
Mark went on to confirm that the show must go on and his band mates would go on without him as they set to carry on on their tour of the UK and Ireland. He added: "Until then, Nicky, Shane, and Kian will continue to fly the Westlife flag high for all of us. Please scream even louder than usual for those three legends in my absence. Sending love to you all, I hope to see you back on the road very, very, soon. Mark."
