A man allegedly caught in possession of a sawn-off rifle and 124 rounds of ammunition in Canberra's parliamentary circle has been granted bail in the ACT Magistrates Court.
James Greer, 44, is facing charges of unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of ammunition.
The court was told Mr Greer had travelled from Western Australia to the Australian Capital Territory to participate in the protest against vaccine mandates.
Police executed a search warrant on Mr Greer's vehicle after receiving a tip-off that there was a weapon inside, documents tendered to court allege.
In granting Mr Greer bail, Magistrate James Lawton said he accepted that the man had limited ties to the ACT and lived in his vehicle but, he said, there was no relevant criminal history to suggest he would not meet his bail conditions.
The maximum penalty for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm is 10 years in prison.
The accused will return to court next Friday.
