West Yorkshire Police warn 'do not approach' man wanted over armed robberies in Leeds

Police have launched an urgent manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies at newsagents in Leeds.

Officers are desperate to trace Marlon Stewart, 36, who is understood to have been involved in robberies where members of staff were threatened with a 'handgun' during a night of terror on Tuesday, July 19. Staff at the Premier store on Lidgett Lane, in the Gledhow area of the city, and the One Stop shop in Chandos Gardens were targeted during the robberies.

Detectives have been searching for Stewart ever since but have not been able to find him. Detective Sergeant Andy Greatorex, of Leeds Distrct CID, warned members of the public not to approach the suspect.

He said: "We urgently need to trace and arrest Marlon Stewart at the earliest opportunity and are appealing for the public’s help to establish his current whereabouts. We want to hear from anyone who has seen him or who has any information that could assist in tracing him.

"We are advising anyone who sees him not to approach him but to contact the police immediately on 999." Anyone with information should call Leeds District CID on 101, quoting crime log 13220393783. Details can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
