West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth

A west London hospital was hit with a power cut on Friday afternoon affecting A&E and its urgent treatment centre.

Officials at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth said that engineers were on-site attempting to fix the problem.

The power cut is affecting A&E, imaging, urgent treatment centre and theatres, the hospital trust said in a statement around midday.

“A power outage at West Middlesex University Hospital is affecting A&E, imaging, urgent treatment centre and theatres,” it said.

“We are working closely with engineers to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Further updates to follow when services are fully restored.

“Unfortunately, outpatient services may be impacted. You will be contacted directly with further information.”

The hospital, part of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, serves the boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond-upon-Thames, and Ealing. It has over 400 beds.

One medic said on social media: “Got turned away from the imaging department at my local hospital because they had a power cut”.

The Standard has contacted the hospital for more details.
