West Lothian woodland to host a spectacular light trail ahead of Christmas

The Beecraigs Festive Forest is back with a sparkly bang this year and is packed with a whole host of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Those in attendance will also be helping to support Maggie’s cancer charity after organisers at Beecraigs’ partnered with the organisation. The event will see a trail of illuminations throughout the woods that overlooks Edinburgh, the Forth Bridges, the Lothians and Fife.

Situated just outside of Linlithgow, the show will involve extravagant lighting effects and a large laser show. 21CC Group, one of the UK’s leading light and production companies, are behind the event and say that the Christmas treat will be a magical experience for all the family.

The illuminated trail is a 1.8m walk through the woodland, and is packed with stunning visuals and sound effects. It opens to visitors from December 2 until December 23, and will run from 4pm to 10pm - the last entry will be at 8:30pm.

Those behind the trail say that it is suitable for everyone and all age groups, including those with Additional Support Needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder - all carers' tickets are free. The event also features a Santa's Grotto and Storytelling Experience, but these add ons have to be booked separately in advance.

There are also a number of other attractions including a light tunnel, Radio Forth's Silent Disco, Cala Homes' live music stage with DJ, musicians, choirs and carol singers, fire performers, stilt walkers and jugglers. As well as this there will be some favourite festive characters, market stalls, children's amusements and fair rides including a carousel, helter-skelter, Candy Cane bungee jumps, Crazy Elf cars and a new mini polar express.

A wide variety of festive food and drink is also available in the new Santa village, including all the seasonal favourites from hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows to mulled wine, hot cider, tea and coffee, Scottish street food as well as festive fizz and beers.

"This year we've really pulled out all the stops for a fabulous festive treat and made it bigger, brighter and bolder than ever before," said Roy Snedden, Director of Rowen Events.

"It's always the most magical time of the year but we want to make it a truly unforgettable experience for everyone - that’s why we are working with 21CC Group and supporting the wonderful Maggie's who deserve a really significant gift for the tremendous work they do all year round.

“We're hoping all our visitors will be as generous as they can and help us spread the real spirit of Christmas."
