Armadale Academy played host to Scotland’s budding young basketball stars at a unique Wheelchair Jr. NBA event.
Scotland is the only country in the world with a Wheelchair Jr. NBA programme as youngsters from across the country get together for a fun day of basketball.
Armadale Academy, which is the home of the Lothian Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club, hosted the second event of the year with under-14s competing as their NBA sides.
And the afternoon also provided an opportunity for the under-18 National Academy athletes to put their coaching and officiating knowledge to the test.
Basketballscotland’s Inclusion Manager, Tina Gordon, commented: “It was amazing seeing so many young people having fun and making new friendships.
“The Jr.NBA plays an important role in our under-14 wheelchair basketball pathway and for some players this is their first introduction to the sport.
“As well as skills development, our Jr.NBA graduates who are now in our under-18 National Academy acted as role models coaching and officiating the games.”
Scotland National Academy coach Mark Stevenson added: “To see that many players at this age group is so refreshing and a testament to everyone’s efforts.
“The progression across the day was immense and I am looking forward to seeing that continue.”
