West Lothian thieves raid family home before fleeing with stash of jewellery

Enquiries are ongoing as police are appealing for information following a house break-in in the West Lothian town of Bathgate.

The house on Muir Road was broken into between 12pm and 1.10pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, while it was unoccupied.

The assessment is still in the process to establish what was taken during the break-in. However, it has been reported already that a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

Detective Sergeant John Bowerbank said: "Officers are carrying out local enquiries and have been told that there was a man acting suspiciously around the time the break-in occurred. He is described as a white male with dark hair and was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

"We would like to speak to anyone who has seen this man in the area and may be able to describe him further or anyone else who has information that could assist our enquiries."

Anyone with information should contact CID at Livingston via 101 and quote incident number 1500 of January 17 2023. Alternatively, calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
