West Lothian Tesco lorries burst into flames as fire crews race to local depot

Fire crews had raced to a West Lothian Tesco depot on Friday night after two large lorries burst into flames.

Emergency services had battled to extinguish the blaze at the depot on the Deans Industrial Estate in Livingston after the blaze sparked at the back of the building at around 10pm.

Quickly spreading throughout both delivery lorries, the flames had also began to spread into the building itself, with nightshift staff evacuated.

The Daily Record reports the SFRS had called for backup upon arrival after seeing the size of the fire, before battling to extinguish the blaze.

Fire fighters can be seen standing at the side of one lorry using a hose in a bid to douse the leaping flames.

There were no reported injuries and emergency services left the scene around 1.45am.

A spokesperson for the SFRS told the Record: "We received a call at 9.57pm to reports of a trailer on fire at a warehouse in Deans Industrial Estate, on Carnegie Road, Livingston.

"Crews attended the scene and requested six appliances in total as the building was now affected.

"Crews from Bathgate, Livingston, Broxburn, Whitburn, Sighthill and Bo'ness attended. Crews were at work with three lines of hose and one high pressure hose reel jet as well as breathing apparatus.

"Two lorries were alight within the building and there were no reported casualties. We received the stop message at 1.45am."
