A Livingston school has been recognised with a top award.
Cedarbank School scooped a ‘Digital Schools Award’.
This recognises digital adaptation in schools and commitment to online learning during the pandemic.
The Digital Schools Awards are a national scheme to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology.
The judging panel at Digital Schools Scotland were impressed by the Cedarbank’s adaptation to digital schooling over the first national lockdown and beyond.
In particular, the equipment the school used – like digital tools and programmes – was praised.

Now all students at Cedarbank have their own device to enhance learning with technology.
The school was judged to be successful in its aim to remove barriers to learning, raise attainment and ambition, and enhance learning experiences.
Head teacher Carol McDonald said: “The use of digital technology reduces many barriers to learning for our young people, enabling them to access their learning in a variety of contexts, independently and with confidence.

“The development of digital learning skills is a skill for life which opens many opportunities and enhances the learning and opportunities for all of our young people, both now and for their future.”
Staff and pupils are eager to further develop their digital literacy skills as they move into their new campus at James Young High School early this year.
