West Lothian's East of Scotland clubs get ready for start of new season

The 2022/23 East of Scotland Football League season starts with a bang on Saturday as four West Lothian derbies highlight the opening day’s fixtures.

Linlithgow Rose were double cup winners last term but fell short in their bid for the Premier Division title.

They will be aiming to get their campaign off to the perfect start away to Blackburn United.

The hosts are entering a new era with Jamie McCormick as gaffer after Mark Campbell stepped aside after 27 years at the club in the summer.

Broxburn Athletic, the top flight’s third West Lothian team, get up and running away to Vale of Leithen.

Whitburn won promotion to the new Division Two after being crowned Conference X champions last term and get underway with a home clash against Arniston Rangers.

There will be derbies aplenty across the season in Division Three, with eight of the league’s 10 teams being from West Lothian.

Three such fixtures take place on Saturday as promotion favourites Armadale Thistle play Fauldhouse United. That match is taking place at Bathgate’s Creamery Park while groundwork is yet to be completed at Volunteer Park.

Livingston United host West Calder United and Stoneyburn welcome Pumpherston to Beechwood Park.

Harthill Royal joined the East of Scotland in the summer following a year in the West and they begin at home to Edinburgh College, while Bathgate Thistle travel to Bo’ness Athletic in a trick opening clash.
