Three prison officers have been suspended from their roles at Addiewell prison following misconduct allegations.
The members of staff are said to have been told to leave the premises three months ago following investigations at the West Lothian jail.
According to sources at the prison, there have been numerous rumours as to why the officers were suspended, however prison owners Sodexo have declined to comment on the issue.
Speaking to the Daily Record, sources claimed the allegations are "serious", adding they believe the staff members 'will not be back.'

A prison source said: "They were told to leave the premises and under investigation for allegations made against them. It's all very serious but nobody is quite sure what they're supposed to have done. A prisoner was violently attacked recently and everyone has assumed it was because of that but we're being told this isn't the reason.
"Three months is a long time for an investigation so whatever it is must be serious. It's highly unlikely they will be back from what we understand."

Last year we revealed the prison was in crisis as allegations surfaced that officers were involved in relationships with guards, organised crime gangs controlled the prison, staff encouraged to downplay serious incidents and one warden was caught on video kissing a prisoner.
The source added: "Things haven't changed much. Prisoners are still being kept in their cells for 23 hours a day, food is cold if it even turns up at all at mealtimes and gangs are still ruling the roost. Nobody seems to care how the prison is being run.
Two weeks ago a convicted killer was given a further 12 month sentence after he beat up a female officer. Roseanne Bell screamed for help as James Demarco viciously beat her before throwing pool balls at her and another guard.
A spokesperson for HMP Addiewell said: “We can confirm that three members of staff were suspended around three months ago, pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct. We do not comment on individuals and cannot provide any further comment.”
