West Lothian newborn baby tragically dies as police launch investigation

Police in West Lothian are investigating the sudden death of a newborn baby in the area.

Officers say that paramedics were called to an address on Beechwood Road on Monday from where a baby boy was taken to hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead a short while later.

A spokesperson for the force said that the death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

One eye witness reported seeing a heavy police presence and white forensic tents erected in the area earlier on the week, as police also confirmed they have had no officers are the scene since Wednesday, August 17.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating following the death of a newborn baby boy in Blackburn.

“Ambulance service were called to an address in Beechwood Road on Monday, 15 August, 2022. The baby was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
