A children’s sponsored walk to help the people of Ukraine has smashed its target, raising over £2,600.
The event was organised by local woman Susan Butler and covered just under three miles from Southdale Primary School in Armadale to Whitburn.
Lots of primary-aged youngsters and their parents from around the area turned up to take part and the money will be donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Everyone was encouraged to display the colours of Ukraine with flags, posters, clothes and face painting and were urged to bring instruments to make themselves heard.
Susan said she wanted the walk on March 22 to be a “positive, fun and uplifting” experience for the children to show them that their voices and actions are powerful and can make a positive difference to the world around them.”
Thanking everyone who had taken part in the walk and raised money through raffles, Susan continued: “At least two million people have fled their homes to escape conflict in Ukraine, leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones, they now face an uncertain future.
“DEC are supporting Ukraine by providing emergency relief for food, water, shelter, hygiene supplies, healthcare, protection.
"Our kids want to do something positive during these extremely tough times.”
