West Lothian footballer Scott Banks named in Scotland under-21 squad for upcoming double-header

Linlithgow's Scott Banks has been named in the Scotland under-21 squad for their upcoming UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers with Turkey and Kazakhstan.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is currently at English Premier League side Crystal Palace but has yet to make a first team appearance for the Eagles. He has had short stints on loan at both Alloa Athletic and Dunfermline Athletic since making the move down south from Dundee United two years ago.

Banks will be looking to add to his four caps at that age group when the Scots host Turkey at Tynecastle on March 25. They then make the trip to Almaty to take on Kazakhstan four days later.

Scotland currently sit in third place in Group I with four points from four games and realistically need to win both fixtures to hold out any hopes of pipping Denmark to the second and the play-offs.
