Harthill Royal Football Club say they are ‘hugely grateful’ after receiving a defibrillator from a local community fund for their Gibbshill Park home.
The Harthill Eastfield and Greenrigg Community Fund (HEG), with support from Foundation Scotland, have donated the piece of life-saving equipment to the football club.
Harthill Royal club secretary Audrey Gray told the Courier they were ‘incredibly appreciative’ after receiving the equipment, which cost around £1600.
She said: “We’re hugely grateful to HEG and Foundation Scotland for the defibrillator. It’s a vital piece of equipment and it just puts everyone’s minds at rest knowing that it is there if ever needed.
“The club are incredibly appreciative for all the support that HEG has given the club over the years and this is just another example.”
She added: “Gibbshill Park and the football club isn’t just about the men’s senior team. There’s lots of clubs across all ages who play here and the social club is a popular place for local groups to host meetings and parties.
“So the club is much more than a football club, it’s a real community hub that can be used by anyone so having a defibrillator on the premises is vital.
“It cost a significant amount of money so we’re really thrilled that HEG thought it was such a worthwhile cause that they were happy to fund.”
