Nearly two days after the initial call, firefighters in West Lothian are still fighting a blaze affecting a large area of moorland and woodland near West Calder.
A huge number of firefighters have been fighting the massive blaze - covering one by one and a half miles near West Calder, running adjacent to the A71.
Four appliances and a helicopter in attendance this morning, Friday (August 12) - after the initial call just after 1pm on Wednesday.
With the huge amount of smoke in the area, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is urging nearby residents to keep their windows closed this evening as the smoke plume moves in an easterly direction towards Edinburgh.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.23pm on Wednesday (August 10) to reports of a fire in the open at High Camilty, West Calder.
“Operations Control has now mobilised 12 appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance as they work to make the area safe.”
The fire continues to rage near the Pentland Hills - casting a huge amount of smoke over West Lothian which can be seen as far as Edinburgh.
It is understood that the huge gorse fire broke out on farmland in the area - with the exact cause being currently unknown.

The increased temperatures in the area mean the risk of wildfires have increased dramatically - with temperatures in West Lothian reaching as high as 28 degrees during the week.
