The flag of the Commonwealth has been raised outside West Lothian Civic Centre to mark Commonwealth Day 2023.
Commonwealth Day is an annual event in which the member countries of the Commonwealth celebrate their links with one another.
The theme for this year is ‘forging a sustainable and peaceful common future’ which combines the active commitment of member states to support the promotion of peace, prosperity and sustainability, especially through climate action.
Taking place this year on March 13, the event at the civic centre was led by Provost Cathy Muldoon and included a reading by the Lord-Lieutenant for West Lothian, Ms Moira Niven MBE and a musical performance from Howden St Andrews Primary School Choir.
Provost Muldoon said: “There is a special relationship between Commonwealth nations and it is important that we all continue to work together and share our expertise and resources to help create a sustainable future for our young citizens.”
