West Lothian Artistic Gymnastics Club are celebrating success after sealing a staggering 23 national champions.
Club members across all age groups were in stunning form at the recent Scottish National Artistic Championships in Perth.
If that wasn’t enough they also picked up a further seven silver medals and eight bronze medals across the event.
Head coach John Campbell and club manager Val Purves spoke of their delight and pride with the results, saying: “The club prides itself on being inclusive for all and the Scottish Championships is a great opportunity for our competitive gymnasts in women’s, men’s and disability sections to showcase their work and dedication to the sport.
“We had some great results and it was good to see all the hard work coming to fruition.
“Our dedicated coaching team did a great job getting the gymnasts prepared and ready for the event whilst supporting them throughout the competition.
“The club is inclusive for all and it was great to see all the parents, carers and club gymnasts coming up to support the team and be inspired by the gymnasts performing. Everyone was amazing and showed great club spirit.
“We always try to make everyone at West Lothian the best they can be as individuals and that was evident. We’re excited to see what 2023 brings for all the gymnasts and the club.”
In the women’s senior competition, Tilly be produced great results with a third in the all around whilst also becoming the senior vault champion and taking bronze on floor.
Sophie Barnett and Megan Docherty were the club’s representatives in the women’s disability competitions and they both unstoppable.
Megan won five gold medals in the Senior Class One competition, winning the all around title as well as being crowned national champion on bars, beam, floor and vault with Sophie remarkably producing the exact same results in the Junior Class One competition.
The club’s MAG team were also crowned Scottish champs for a third consecutive season.
The men were also in impressive form with Josh Pettigrew claiming three golds and three bronzes in the under-14 event.
He scooped gold in the all around, high bar and vault while picking up third place for the floor, parallel bar and rings.
The club had three members competing in the under-16 men’s competitions with Kyle Miller being crowned all around and vault champ as well as taking home silver for the parallel bars.
Logan Kerr was a double gold medallist as he won the parallel bars and rings competitions with team-mate Gregor Happs winning three medals across the event,
He was silver medallist in the high bars and rings and won bronze on parallel bars.
The club’s two senior men’s representatives combined for a remarkable six golds, three silvers and three bronzes.
Cameron Lynn was crowned national champion for on high bar, floor, parallel bars, pommel horse and rings while taking silver in the all around competition.
Team-mate Euan McLellan scooped top prize in the vault while being runner-up in both parallel bars and rings and winning bronze medals in the floor, high bar and pommel horse.
