The Italian gets his chance ahead of Michail Antonio, with David Moyes desperate to see his side improve in front of goal. They have scored just three times int he league so far this season.
Ben Johnson and Nayef Aguerd have stepped up their recovery from injury, but both miss out on the squad as expected.
“We’ve got Aguerd doing a little bit on the grass but nowhere near the level of training, but at least he’s sort of getting back outside a little bit more,” Moyes said in his pre-match press conference.
“Ben Johnson has had a week and a half of training so he is closing in on fitness. I think that is it about them all really.”
Thilo Kehrer played at right-back for Germany against England at Wembley and does so at the London Stadium, with Craig Dawson partnering Kurt Zouma.
Pablo Fornals drops to the bench as Maxwel Cornet is rewarded for some bright cameos off the bench, and he is preferred to Said Benrahma who is also among the substitutes.
