A general view of London Stadium - (Getty)

Follow live coverage as West Ham United face Leicester City today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

West Ham United FC 2 - 0 Leicester City FC

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:56

West Ham make it back-to-back wins for the first time since March 2024 with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leicester City. The hosts weren't at their best but their job was made far easier by a dismal display from Van Nistelrooy's struggling Foxes. The damage was done in the first half, as Soucek capped his 30th birthday with the opening goal, easily scoring after Hermansen had saved from Kudus in the six-yard box. They doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time from a corner as Vestergaard deflected Bowen's effort into his own net. West Ham continued to control the game in the second half at their own pace, and they saw out the win with ease. In terms of xG, West Ham generated 1.33 to Leicester's 0.38. That's all from me, thank you and goodbye!

There will be three minutes of injury time. Leicester just want the final whistle now.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:48

A few crosses are whipped into the West Ham box but Kilman and Wan-Bissaka are able to snuff out the danger on successive occasions. The ex-Wolves man has improved after a shaky start.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

Another change sees Thomas come on for Kristiansen.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:45

Leicester make another sub with just three minutes to go, as Daka comes on for Vestergaard.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:42

Faes makes a clumsy challenge on Soucek and West Ham win the free-kick. They can play the game at their own tempo inside these last 10 minutes. It's been so straight-forward for them.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:41

Mavididi has been bright since coming on and given Wan-Bissaka something to think about with a few incisive runs down the right. He's done himself no harm in terms of staking a claim for a start in the next match away to Chelsea.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:39

SHOULD HAVE SCORED! West Ham streak forward on the counter, and it's a three-on two in their favour with Bowen surging ahead before laying it off to Ferguson but he takes too long on the ball and Kristiansen makes a fabulous block.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:37

Leicester have made this more of a contest but still don't carry enough of a threat going forward to worry Fabianski in the West Ham goal. The Hammers just need to see the final part of this match out.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:35

Despite holding a two-goal lead, Hermansen hadn't really had much to do in terms of saves. The attacking threat from the Hammers has faded over the last 15 minutes.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:31

A quiet night for Kudus and he's now replaced by Ferguson for the final 20 minutes.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:30

Leicester win a free-kick but Buonanotte's delivery is far too deep and West Ham can clear. That completely halts any sort of momentum that the Foxes had been building.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:28

The Foxes continue to create a bit of pressure in West Ham's box as Mavididi's dangerous cross is headed away by a diving Emerson. It eventually rolls out for Justin but his shot is closed down by Creswell at the first attempt.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:26

Leicester show something down the right as Justin digs out a cross for Mavididi at the back post but Wan-Bissaka manages to win the duel in the air. The Foxes win a corner seconds later but Vestergaard can only glance a looping header straight into the clutches of Areola. Some encouragement for the visitors but they've left themselves so much to do.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:24

A third change sees Mavropanos replace Todibo.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:24

Emerson is on for Scarles. There's a warm ovation from the home crowd to the academy graduate as he comes off.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:23

Substitution Edson Omar Álvarez Velázquez Carlos Soler Barragán

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:21

A bright run by Alvarez sees him skip past a couple of Leicester challenges before finding Kudus but Faes is there again to nick the ball away from the forward. Leicester's defence has improved to an extent after the break.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:19

Winks is on for Soumare in the centre of midfield. A smattering of boos for the ex-Tottenham man.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:19

A first Leicester change sees De Cordova-Reid replaced by Mavididi.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:18

De Cordova wins a rare corner for Leicester but El Khannouss' cross is headed away by Kudus at the near post. A wasted delivery from a Foxes perspective.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:16

Kristiansen's poor pass is intercepted by Ward-Prowse who plays it forward to Kudus but Faes makes a strong interception to deny the forward. The Ghanaian has only really shown flashes of his undoubted quality tonight.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:14

Leicester go forward but any momentum is lost as El Khannouss overhits a cross, and West Ham are awarded the goal-kick.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:14

Todibo ventures forward on a rare attack, exchanging passes with Wan-Bissaka but eventually loses it under pressure from Kristiansen. The French defender hasn't had anything to do so far in terms of his defensive duties.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:12

The hosts remain in control. They need to be careful not to allow the game to fizzle out with so long left to go. Faes sums up Leicester's evening so far by firing the ball out of play with no player near him.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:10

Kilman catches Vardy on the edge of the centre circle, with the referee eventually giving Leicester the free-kick. The West Ham fans voice their displeasure at the decision.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:08

West Ham start the second half in similiar fashion to the first, with more possession. Bowen goes down on the edge of the penalty area but the referee doesn't award a free-kick.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:05

A poor diagonal pass from Faes fails to find Kristiansen and goes out for a throw. That's horrendous from the defender when the away fans were hoping of something of a reaction from the restart.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

21:04

West Ham get us underway for the second half. Surprisingly, there are no Leicester changes.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:55

West Ham are unbeaten in their last 35 Premier League games when leading by two or more goals at half time, since a 3-2 loss against Wigan in May 2011, where Charles N'Zogbia scored a late winner to relegate the Hammers. Meanwhile, Leicester have lost 33 of their last 34 Premier League games when trailing by two or more goals at half time, winning the other against Southampton in October 2024. The live win probability has the chances of a Foxes win at just 1.5%, with the draw at 6.2% and a West Ham win at 92.3%.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:51

West Ham lead Leicester 2-0 at half-time. The home side haven't been at their best but their opponents simply haven't turned up. Potter's men have controlled the game in terms of possession without creating too many meaningful chances. Nevertheless, they took the lead through Soucek after Hermansen had saved from Kudus in the 21st minute and doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time as Bowen scored from a corner after the Foxes failed to clear. In terms of xG, the Hammers have generated 0.97 to Leicester's 0.08.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:49

HALF-TIME: WEST HAM 2-0 LEICESTER

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:48

Leicester have a free-kick in the final minute of the first half, but Justin's free-kick slams against the wall. It's been a dreadful first half from the Foxes. They haven't laid a glove on the hosts.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:47

There will be one minute of added time for this first half.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:44

Kristiansen has attempted six tackles in this game, more than any other player.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:44

Goal Jarrod Bowen

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:41

The Hammers seem to be finding some joy down the right, with the ball continuing to find Wan-Bissaka. He sets Bowen free but Kristiansen does well to come back at him and win the ball back.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:41

Wan-Bissaka lifts a gorgeous ball forward for Ward-Prowse, who finds Bowen on the edge of the box but he drags a weak effort wide. That was a nice change of tempo from the home side which livened up a rather quiet London Stadium so far.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:40

The Hammers continue to dominate the ball as we approach the end of the first half. They've not been at their best but this has still been so straight-forward for the home side so far.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:39

Soucek (on his 27th birthday v Wolves in 2022 and on his 30th tonight against Leicester) is one of just two players in Premier League history to score a goal on his birthday in two different years after Teddy Sheringham (28th birthday v Norwich in April 1994 and 29th birthday v Southampton in April 1995).

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:38

Bowen threads it through to Soucek inside the area but the Czech fails to find anyone making a late arrival with a reverse pass. The visitors manage to clear the ball through Faes.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:35

It's now been over 30 minutes since Leicester registered a shot, with barely any of the match being played in West Ham's defensive third. This has been very disappointing in terms of a reaction from the heavy Brentford defeat.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:34

Justin thumps the ball forward towards Vardy but he can't win the aerial duel and West Ham regain possession easily. The Leicester striker is enduring a frustrating evening already, as he remains increasingly isolated against the three West Ham centre backs.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:32

There have been three goals scored by West Ham players on their birthday in the Premier League with Soucek scoring two of them (vs Wolves on this day in 2022 and tonight - also Ricardo Vaz Te vs QPR in October 2012).

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:32

Kristiansen concedes another cheap foul but makes up for the error by heading away the resulting set-piece from Ward-Prowse.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:30

Going back to the goal, Vestegaard played both Kudus and Soucek onside and failed to react after Hermansen had made the initial save. Incredibly passive from the Danish defender and it's cost the Foxes dearly.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:27

Leicester have conceded the first goal the most times in the Premier League this season, with 22 games in total.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:27

Ward-Prowse whips in a dangerous cross but Hermansen powerfully punches away for Leicester. It's back into the penalty area straight away but Kilman's header loops away for a goal-kick.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:26

The Hammers have continued their dominance on the ball straight after scoring, with Bowen finding Scarles on the left and his cross is deflected away for a corner.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:25

Worryingly for Leicester, the Hammers have won all four matches in the Premier League this season after scoring the opening goal. Can they hit back quickly?

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:22

Leicester won 2-1 against Tottenham in their last Premier League away game against a London side – on all five occasions they’ve won consecutive visits to the capital in the competition it’s included a win against either Spurs or West Ham (or both).

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:21

Goal Tomáš Souček

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:18

Kilman fails to deal with a long ball forward, giving the opportunity for Vardy to run forward down the right and provide a cross into the box, but Alvarez clears the danger away and West Ham can get up the pitch. Another mistake from the former Wolves player.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:17

This match remains flat, with West Ham still dominating the ball. Kudus and Bowen should take encouragement from Leicester's appalling record on the road, with just one clean sheet all season. The latter has barely had a touch of the ball so far.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:15

Leicester win a free-kick after Kilman bundles over El Khannouss. The defender has made a rather shaky start to this one.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:14

Following their 1-0 win against Arsenal last time out, West Ham are looking to win consecutive Premier League games for the first time since March 2024, while they last did so without conceding in December 2023. They've made a ponderous start so far.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:14

Kilman nearly makes an error, as he takes too long on the ball and Vardy is close to nipping the ball off him. The veteran is still carrying a threat at 38-years-old.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:11

There's been a slow tempo so far, with neither side threatening to take the early iniative. Unsurprisingly, Leicester just want to settle into the game after the first-half blitz from Brentford in their previous match.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:10

They're yet to have an effort at goal but the home side are comfortable with the ball, as Kudus is beginning to pop up in different positions. Wan-Bissaka is already very advanced.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:08

West Ham have won 11 of their last 14 Premier League games against newly promoted sides, however their only defeat in this run came against Leicester in the reverse fixture. The last time they lost home and away to a promoted side was Brentford in the 2021/22 season.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:07

West Ham are enjoying their first spell of possession in the opening stages, but aren't managing to penerate any of the offensive spaces as of yet. A dangerous cross from Scarles is defended well by Kristiansen.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:05

Vardy is making his 245th Premier League appearance since turning 30, with only Nigel Winterburn (305), Teddy Sheringham (284), Ryan Giggs (278), Gary Speed (277), Lee Dixon (253) and Sylvain Distin (246) playing more games in the competition among outfielders after turning 30.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:05

Ndidi strikes an effort straight at Areola from outside the area. That wasn't troubling the West Ham keeper but Leicester should gain some hope from a shot on target within the first two minutes of the match.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

20:03

The Foxes win a corner inside the first minute through Justin but it's defended well by West Ham and they can clear.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

19:30

West Ham still remain without Lucas Paqueta and Vladimir Coufal, who are both recovering from injury along with long-term absentees Michail Antonio, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug. The Hammers are unchanged from the side that defeated Arsenal at the weekend.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

19:30

Since steering Leicester to a win over West Ham in his first match at the helm, head coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy has suffered 10 defeats from his other 12 matches in charge in the league, losing each of his last six at the King Power Stadium with an aggregate score of 15-0. The Foxes were dealt a further blow to their survival hopes last Friday with a horrendous 4-0 defeat at home to Brentford, leaving them 19th in the table and five points adrift of Wolves in 17th place. Only bottom club Southampton have accumulated fewer Premier League points on the road than Leicester with five, while the Foxes are the only team in the league who are yet to register a clean sheet on the road.

West Ham United vs Leicester City

19:30

West Ham will hope to secure back-to-back victories with a win tonight after their finest result of the season last weekend, beating Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates. Jarrod Bowen’s goal before half-time proved to be the difference between the two sides. This was just the second win of Graham Potter’s reign so far, and though his side remain in 16th place, any fears of relegation have evaporated with the Hammers 13 points above the drop zone with 12 league matches remaining. West Ham have lost their last two home matches under Potter against Crystal Palace and Brentford and are looking to avoid two separate runs of at least three consecutive defeats at home, having suffered the same fate under previous manager Julen Lopetegui earlier in the season.
