West Ham United have three players ruled out for Liverpool

West Ham will be without at least three players when they face Liverpool at Anfield later today.

The Hammers remain one of only two sides that have recorded a win over Jurgen Klopp ’s team so far this season, following their 3-2 win at the London Stadium in November.

Though David Moyes ’ side have picked up one win in their last four games across all competitions and will hope to get their quest for a Champions League spot back on track at Anfield.

The West Ham boss offered an injury update in his Friday press conference, amid doubts over the availability of Tomas Soucek after the Czech midfielder sustained a cut that required stitches in their cup defeat to Southampton.

“Like everybody, we've got a few injuries and a few players out, but we've also got some coming back as well hopefully," Moyes said .

"Ryan Fredericks is a bit better and so is Arthur [Masuaku]. We’ve got some good news from that side.

“We have a concern about [Tomas] Soucek because of the stitches in his head, so that’s something we’re concerned about."

West Ham will also be without Vladimir Coufal after his recent groin operation and Angelo Ogbonna, who suffered a knee injury that required surgery in the reverse fixture with Liverpool earlier this season.

In addition to those injured, Moyes confirmed that Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmalenko has returned to training but will not be part of his matchday squad against Liverpool.

Yarmalenko’s home city of Chernihiv has been subjected to air strikes, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“I don’t think he’s quite ready and we want to give him every opportunity to do everything he can for his family and his country,” his manager said.

“Coming into training sometimes makes things feel a little bit better for him, and we’re trying to give him a little bit of a release with that, but we’re also trying to do everything we possibly can for him and his family.”
