West Ham tipped to seal shock Christian Pulisic transfer as Newcastle prepare £60m move

Christian Pulisic is expected to leave Chelsea this summer with several clubs linked with acquiring his services. The former Borussia Dortmund man has struggled for minutes and an imminent sale looks to be the best outcome for both parties as the Blues hope to recoup some of the £58 million spent on him in 2019.

Remaining in the Premier League currently looks unlikely with Newcastle's interest now far less prominent in the USMNT star than compared to a few months ago. The Magpies also may have limited funds following the £60 million agreement with AC Milan to sign midfielder Sandro Tonali.

While that avenue now appears closed off, Clint Dempsey believes the 24-year-old staying in England, despite his own recommendation of a different top five league, is still possible with West Ham suggested.

“I think that La Liga would be a good option, and I think there are still teams in the top six where he could get in. Someone top four or top five,” Dempsey told CBS Golazo, via HITC. "I like that league for him, in the way that he plays and the way he can connect with people. How he can use his speed to create chances.

“And I still think that the Premier League is a good option for him. There are other teams in the top six. I think West Ham could be a good option. There are more options out there.

“The most important thing is you go somewhere where you are going to play, where you like the style and the coach believes in you.”

Pulisic could certainly thrive in the Spanish league if given the opportunity, but the bulk of interest is currently from Serie A. Juventus and AC Milan have been two clubs closely linked, and although no formal approach has been made, a double boost for Pulisic joining AC Milan has arrived.

Firstly, as mentioned above, Tonali has completed a move to Newcastle which will give the Rossoneri more than enough funds to make some moves of their own in the market. The financial stumbling block over a deal for Pulisic always looked prominent but that could now be gone.

Stefano Pioli is hopeful of bolstering his attacking options in the summer window with a move to sign Marcus Thuram on a free transfer at an advanced stage. However, direct rivals Inter Milan look to have pipped them to his signature after offering a more lucrative five-year contract which will see the former Borussia Monchengladbach man earn €6m net per season.

The move will cost Inter €30m (£25m) over five years, but now the door has been opened for AC Milan to go all out for Pulisic. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Italian giants are in 'direct contact' with Pulisic and he is now at the very top of their list of targets.
