West Ham star Said Benrahma scoops Premier League award ahead of Europa Conference League final

West Ham United winger Said Benrahma has won a lesser-known Premier League award following his goal against Crystal Palace in November.

On November 6, Benrahma opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a thunderous strike in a London derby against the Eagles at the London Stadium, only for the Hammers to surrender their early advantage to lose 2-1 against a Palace side then managed by Patrick Vieira.

That goal, although it did not lead to any points for David Moyes’ side, has won the Oracle Most Powerful Goal award for the 2022/23 season.

That goal was clocked at an average speed of 107.17 kilometres per hour from Benrahma, a speed that equates to an average speed of 66.59 miles per hour.

The Algerian winger becomes the second player to ever win the award, with former Manchester City captain Fernandinho winning it in its inaugural edition last season.

Benrahma has also finished the campaign joint-top of West Ham’s scoring charts in England’s top-flight, with six goals, putting him level with Jarrod Bowen. However, Benrahma played 1,164 fewer league minutes than Bowen did, although four of his six league goals did come from the penalty spot.

For the 2022/23 season, Benrahma has scored 11 goals in all competitions, three behind Michail Antonio who leads the scoring charts with 14 goals ahead of the final match of the season.
