West Ham sent transfer message amid Youssef En-Nesyri January approach

Sky Sports pundit Kevin Hatchard believes it will take a lot for West Ham United to sign Youssef En-Nesyri.

football.london understands that West Ham have enquired about recruiting the Moroccan international forward, initially on loan, following the Hammers’ struggles for goals this season after only getting on the scoresheet 15 times in 18 fixtures.

Despite signing striker Gianluca Scamacca in the summer alongside winger Maxwel Cornet, both have missed time due to injury and the latter is no sooner to returning after coming off against Chelsea at the start of October.

With Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen also misfiring this season, David Moyes appears to have turned towards the transfer market and is looking at Nayef Aguerd's international team-mate En-Nesyri on a short-term deal.

However, his current club Sevilla are embroiled in a relegation battle and with a new manager in charge, getting the Spanish club to part ways with the 25-year-old mid-season will cost 'a lot to tempt Sevilla' to do a deal for a player who has yet to find the back of the in 12 league appearances this season.

“Did well at the World Cup, hasn’t done that well for Sevilla," Hatchard told Sky Sports. "The team hasn’t done well, Jorge Sampaoli’s there now, having replaced Julen Lopetegui.

“They’re in a relegation battle, so it’s going to have to be a lot to tempt Sevilla to part company with him, but since he got a load of goals a couple of seasons ago, we’ve not really seen the same player, so there’s an element of risk there, I think.”

En-Nesyri was a key player for Morocco, alongside Hammers centre-back Aguerd, in their run to finishing fourth at the 2022 World Cup. The striker started all seven games as his country became the first-ever African nation to reach the last four, scoring two goals during wins over Canada in the group stage and Portugal in the quarter-finals.
