West Ham's Declan Rice drops transfer hint over his future amid Chelsea and Man United links

West Ham United captain Declan Rice admits he wants to be playing at the highest level possible, sparking question marks over his long-term future.

Rice, who became West Ham's club captain in the summer after Mark Noble left, has been heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium in recent years, with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs linked with interest in West Ham's captain.

The Hammers skipper has just over 18 months left on his contract at the club having yet to put pen to paper on a long-term deal and is currently on duty with England at the 2022 World Cup, starting all three of their games as they won Group B to book a round of 16 clash against Group A runners-up Senegal on Sunday night.

Speaking about that game, Rice has said he wants to be playing on the biggest stages, especially when the majority of his England colleagues are regulars in the Champions League, with Chelsea beating Manchester City in the final of the competition in 2021.

Rice feels his form is befitting of playing at a high level, hinting at a potential exit, considering West Ham sit 16th in the Premier League table, as things stand.

"I’ve been playing consistently well for the club and I want to keep pushing," said Rice.

"Like you said I see my friends here who are playing Champions League football, winning the trophies. You only get one career and at the end of your career you want to look back at what you’ve won and the biggest games you’ve played in.

"I’m really ambitious and I really want to do that."
