West Ham receive injury triple injury boost ahead of Silkeborg Europa Conference League clash

West Ham United have received a triple injury boost ahead of Thursday night’s Europa Conference League clash against Silkeborg at JYSK Park.

After missing the Hammers ’ Group B win over FCSB at the London Stadium, midfielder Tomas Soucek is back in the squad having recently suffered a minor foot injury. Aaron Cresswell is also back in the squad following a groin issue while Maxwel Cornet has overcome a minor neck injury suffered in the win over FCSB and is with the squad.

Centre-back Craig Dawson, who made his first appearance of the season from the bench against FCSB after a thigh injury and a collapsed summer move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, is also in the match squad, although right-back Ben Johnson has not travelled following a hamstring injury picked up in last month’s win over Aston Villa.

Speaking on team news, Moyes confirmed that Dawson and Cresswell are in contention to feature, although he will consider Silkeborg’s artificial pitch when selecting his team for the European clash out in Denmark.

“Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell have travelled, Ben Johnson hasn’t travelled,” said Moyes. “We will have a look at them, obviously we will have to just check out what we think for them regarding the surface etc, but we have bought them with us, they are both getting nearer to fitness.

“Craig has had six weeks out, Cressy has only had two weeks out really but we need to just make sure that their injuries are okay. They have done a bit of training.”

Moyes added on Cornet: “He was fine, he actually felt it more in his neck, it wasn’t really his head. I think he landed and hurt his neck a little bit, but Maxi is fine, he has been training.”

“Tomas is okay, he’s had a kick in the foot,” Moyes continued on Soucek. “Tomas hasn’t trained for most of the week and if the game against Newcastle was to be played, Tomas would have been a doubt because of an injury he had to his foot.

“Tomas Soucek has been back training now so he should be okay.”
