West Ham provide Jarrod Bowen injury update after what happened in Liverpool clash

West Ham United have confirmed that Jarrod Bowen has not suffered significant damage to himself after being substituted through injury in Saturday’s match with Liverpool.

The 25-year-old had to be helped down the tunnel at Anfield by two of the Hammers’ medical staff.

The Irons fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s men in the end, with Sadio Mane’s finish in the first-half proving the crucial strike, however concerns over Bowen in an important phase of the season were at the fore after the game.

It comes amid a crucial set of fixtures coming up for David Moyes’ men, with Sevilla in the Europa League up next before a clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League.

After the loss, the Scotsman was unable to confirm the severity of the injury to Bowen: “They seem to think that the tackle from [Andy] Robertson, around his heel area.

“Not sure where but we will get him scanned. Jarrod has been exceptional for us so the last thing we want is for him to be injured.

“It could be nothing, but in the same breath I didn’t like the way he wasn’t able to put his weight through his foot so that worries me.”

Bowen’s form has continued to capture the imagination of Hammers fans, who are dreaming of a top four finish and a triumph in the Europa League this season.

The forward has scored eight goals and assisted eight in the Premier League this season, bettering his goal involvement from the season before in ten fewer appearances.

It has brought about calls for the 25-year-old to be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, which is set to be named for the international break later this month.

In some good news for the hopes of both the player and the fans, West Ham confirmed on their official website that the forward suffered “no significant damage” after a scan.

Head of West Ham’s Medical department, Richard Collinge, said: “Jarrod underwent an MRI scan in London on Sunday morning and thankfully no significant injury has occurred.

“He will continue to be monitored by the medical team and will undergo further examination in the coming days.”

There will be the hope that he can be involved as soon as Thursday’s clash in Spain, though the signs are promising that it won’t be a lengthy spell out at the very least.
