Alphonse Areola - Had no chance with Southampton's goals and performed adequately after replacing Lukasz Fabianski in goal. 6
Ben Johnson - Had the freedom of the right flank in the first half and got forward well. Looked tired towards the end of the match after covering a huge amount of ground. 6
Craig Dawson - Looked comfortable on the right of the back three in the first half but once again struggled against Armando Broja. It was Dawson's error that cost West Ham after conceding a second-half penalty. 5
Issa Diop - Came into the team as the left of the three centre-backs and acquitted himself well, a couple of times had the opportunity to gallop forward but decided against doing so. 6
Kurt Zouma - Superb as has become customary for him. Got a ton of abuse from the home supporters but ignored it all and was largely excellent. 7
Pablo Fornals (off 76) - Looks at home in the left wing-back role, helping the defence out when needed and still offering options in attack. The ground he covers must leave him exhausted. 6
Declan Rice - Controlled the middle of the park but was not up to his usual standards when driving the team forward. 6
Tomas Soucek (off 54) - Unfortunate to have to go off after a nasty looking blow to the head left him with blood pouring down his face. Had a good opportunity in the first half but scuffed it wide when he should have done better. 5
Manuel Lanzini - Linked the midfield and attack in the first half, dropped to a deeper role after Soucek's injury and played more of a deep-lying playmaker role, a job he did well. 6
Jarrod Bowen - Not as effective as he has been in past weeks and unable to impact the game to any great extent. 5
Michail Antonio - Drifted left and put a number of dangerous balls into the box in the first-half. Ended his six-game goal drought with a close-range effort which will no doubt do his confidence the world of good. 6
Subs:
Said Benrahma (on 54) - Made little impact on the game and infuriated the manager when he did not bust a gut to get on the end of a Johnson cross. 6
Nikola Vlasic (on 76) - Was not involved to any great extent. 6
