West Ham saw their unbeaten run ended at Liverpool as Darwin Nunez’s first Anfield goal proved the winner in Wednesday night’s Premier League clash.
Jarrod Bowen saw a tame penalty saved by Alisson Becker after a largely toothless first-half but David Moyes’ side improved after the break and should really have scored a late equaliser.
Here’s how David Moyes’ side rated at Anfield...
Lukasz FabiaÅski 7
Twice denied Nunez either side of the Uruguayan’s goal, which he had no chance with. Out sharply to deny Salah late on.
Ben Johnson 5
Allowed Tsimikas too much space to cross for opener. Such a reliable performer but below-par here.
Thilo Kehrer 6
Beaten in the air by Nunez for opener, though that is no crime.
Kurt Zouma 6
Back from illness to ease West Ham’s centre-back crisis but did not quite look 100 per cent. Fell just the right side of fine line between excellent clearance and own goal late on.
Aaron Cresswell 6
Made superb block to deny Firmino what would have been a clincher.
Declan Rice 7
Could comfortably slot into Liverpool’s midfield. Made several fine interventions and tried to drive team forward.
Flynn Downes 6
Handed a first Premier League start on the right of midfield before being switched inside after the break. Hardly disgraced, but unsurprisingly found this a sterner test than his European outings.
Tomas Soucek 6
Combative in midfield. A couple of late fouls on Thiago in the first-half were about as close as anyone got. Denied late leveller by combination of Milner and Alisson but should have scored.
Pablo Fornals 5
Not a particularly effective night for the Spaniard, who has had a fine start to the season.
Gianluca Scamacca 4
Hugely impressive in recent weeks but hardly had a kick here. Blazed high from tight angle when might’ve pulled back for Antonio late on.
Jarrod Bowen 5
Had scored twice from the spot so far this season but effort was telegraphed, for all Alisson made a fine save. Was West Ham’s biggest threat, though.
Substitutes
Said Benrahma (Fornals 61‘) 5
Missed a glorious chance at the back post, not going at Rice’s high cross with any conviction.
