West Ham player ratings vs Burnley: Michail Antonio far too wasteful as Nikola Vlasic struggles to make impact

West Ham failed to take advantage of Tottenham and Arsenal’s shock defeats as managerless Burnley held them to a draw.

The hosts started well but were unsettled following a long delay in which Burnley’s Ashley Westwood was stretchered off with what appeared to be a broken ankle.

The Clarets struck quickly after the restart with Wout Weghorst heading past Lukasz Fabianski after Jay Rodriguez’s effort fell his way off the crossbar.

Burnley could have doubled their lead in added time at the end of the first half but Maxwel Cornet sent his penalty wide of Fabianski’s goal.

The Hammers stepped it up after the break and finally found a leveller through Tomas Soucek, who bundled the ball home with his chest from Manuel Lanzini’s free-kick.

West Ham pushed for a winner but Issa Diop was denied late on by a stunning Nick Pope save.

Jack Rosser was at the London Stadium to rate the West Ham players...

Lukasz Fabianski 5

Little he could have done about Weghorst’s goal and was let off after conceding the penalty.

Ben Johnson 6

Sloppy play in the build-up to the Burnley penalty but a threat down the right in the second half.

Craig Dawson 6

Rarely troubled at the back and once again showed off his array of raking diagonal passes.

Issa Diop 6

Battled well with the towering Weghorst, content to step forward and keep West Ham going.

Aaron Cresswell 6

Denied a fine goal by James Tarkowski’s goalline clearance and delivered well from set pieces.

Declan Rice 7

Drove forward well throughout the second half looking to open up a dogged Burnley side.

Tomas Soucek 7

Controlled midfield well and was always a danger in the Burnley box. Didn’t know much about his goal but deserved it.

Jarrod Bowen 7

Made some dangerous runs and tested Pope with a good effort early on.

Manuel Lanzini 7

Smart on the ball and delivered a few good crosses before Soucek finally met his free-kick for the leveller.

Nikola Vlasic 5

Worked hard but struggled to make any real impact in the final third.

Michail Antonio 5

Took up great positions and caused problems for the Burnley defence but far too wasteful with his chances.

Substitutes

Said Benrahma 6

Added some spark to West Ham’s forward line but wasted his only real chance.

Pablo Fornals 6

Would have had an assist were it not for Pope’s outstanding save to deny Diop.
