West Ham player ratings vs Bristol City: Kurt Zouma rusty on return as Hammers toil

West Ham will need a replay to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup after being pegged back by Championship Bristol City.

The Hammers took an early lead through Jarrod Bowen as David Moyes's decision to name a full-strength side appeared likely to pay off.

However, Tommy Conway's strike midway through the second-half ensured the two teams will meet again at Ashton Gate in ten days's time.

Here's how David Moyes's side rated at the London Stadium...

Lukasz Fabianski 6

Kept out Bell strike but well beaten by Conway's fine finish.

Vladimir Coufal 6

In the wars early on but is a tough cookie.

Konstantinos Mavropanos 6

Just starting to find some rhythm and a run of games, but forced off after dangerous Conway challenge in the air.

Kurt Zouma 5

Back from a knee injury but looked rusty. Slow to push up when playing Conway onside, but did deny Bristol City a probable winner with late interception.

Emerson 6

A good outlet down the left, making chance that almost led to Pring own-goal.

Edson Alvarez 6

A little sloppy in possession but fired up by altercation with Williams. Booked.

James Ward-Prowse 5

West Ham needed more control from the Englishman in midfield. Booked for halting City counter.

Tomas Soucek 5

Denied a back-post tap-in by Pring intervention. Couldn't get over header from good Bowen cross.

Pablo Fornals 6

Sweet strike was well saved by O'Leary. Delightful backheel set Emerson away. Looks much happier on the left.

Jarrod Bowen 7

Back on the wing but still in the goals. Took the opener superbly and delivery from wide was always threatening.

Lucas Paqueta N/A

Made the opener with a terrific pass in behind but lasted less than a quarter-of-an-hour before suffering what looked a reoccurrence of knee problem.

Substitutes

Divin Mubama (Paqueta 14') 5

Handed a big opportunity to impress against a second-tier defence by Paqueta injury but made little impact.

Angelo Ogbonna (Mavropanos 40') 5

Should really have cut out Williams pass for Conway goal.

Ben Johnson (Coufal 74') N/A

Maxwel Cornet (Alvarez 75') N/A

Danny Ings (Fornals 75') N/A

Missed a glaring chance to win it at far post.

Unused: Areola, Cresswell, Coventry, Benrahma
