West Ham United booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over London rivals Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
A stunning goal from substitute Said Benrahma, ten minutes after coming on against his former side, sealed victory for the Hammers in west London.
Here is how football.london’s West Ham United writer Jonty Colman rated the Hammers ’ players against the Bees.

Lukasz Fabianski
It was a first non-Premier League appearance of the season for Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, preferred to Darren Randolph in the absence of regular cup goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. Barring catching crosses, his only real involvement in the first half was to deny Yoane Wissa from close range, which he did well. Had to deny Keane Lewis-Potter early in the second half but again, was hardly tested. Did what he had to well. 7
Craig Dawson
Defended solidly throughout the game, although he was hardly tested in direct situations. The only time he was came on the counter, fouling Brentford debutant Kevin Schade in a deliberate and needed foul at the time. Improving after a spell of inconsistency just before the World Cup. 6
Angelo Ogbonna
A really good display in the heart of defence from the Italian centre-back. Made a brilliant diving block to deny a Mikel Damsgaard volley in the second half, which proved crucial. Also really good at bringing the ball out from the back and starting moves on the counter attack in possession. A big thumbs up. 7
Nayef Aguerd
A really solid performance too next to Angelo Ogbonna from Nayef Aguerd on his second straight start in a West Ham shirt. Defended well and exhibited a great range of passing, including one long ball to set up a half chance for Antonio. Really calm in possession and by each game, looks more settled. 7
Ben Johnson
Vladimir Coufal's knee injury and a return to a back three meant that Ben Johnson got a rare start at right wing-back, with these being his first minutes since playing in the Carabao Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers nigh on two months ago. Not a good performance, offered energy but not much in terms of quality. Struggled to really attack his side of the pitch and make things happen, not the attacking prowess manager David Moyes would have hoped for. 5
Lucas Paqueta
Some really classy stuff at times from Lucas Paqueta in a game which largely lacked imagination and creatvity, with clever tricks alongside dogged defending and a workrate needed to shackle a possession-dominating Brentford. Went from a midfield trio to a duo when Tomas Soucek was taken off, which seemed to benefit him more. 7
Declan Rice
It had been a good first half from Declan Rice, who moved the ball when possible and generally made his presence felt against Brentford's midfield line. Struggled at times early in the second half, giving the ball away to start a Brentford counter-attack. Made up for it minutes later when his sliding tackle proved to be an assist for Benrahma's winner. 7
Tomas Soucek
A poor game for Tomas Soucek, who lacked the dynamism required to break through Brentford's midfield and defence. Picked off too easily and stood out as a weakness in midfield. Had a golden chance to score the opening goal, steering a volley wide from about seven yards out. West Ham looked better after he was taken off. 5
Emerson
A switch to the back five worked in Emerson's favour, with the Italian international getting a return to the side as David Moyes has only used him as a wing-back so far this term. A poor first half, but got more joy attacking after the break, creating a golden chance for Soucek, who steered wide on the volley. 6
Jarrod Bowen
In the Premier League eight days ago, Jarrod Bowen thought he won his side a second half penalty, but it was correctly downgraded after a VAR check. In his last three games, he has won two penalties, a threat Brentford had to be wary of. 6
Michail Antonio
A minor knock for Italian striker GIanluca Scamacca forced him out of the squad, giving Michail Antonio a chance up front, having spent much of the season as Scamacca's back-up. Went on one good counter-attacking run in the first half after dummying at the end of an Aguerd pass, ruined it though by tacking too long to shoot or pass. It was a similar story for much of the first half, a bright moment quickly ruined. Did very little in the second half, barring winning a few flick-ons from long balls. 6
Substitutes
Said Benrahma (Star man)
The winger, back against his former club, was bought on with just over 20 minutes to go to cheers of appreciation for him from both sets of supporters. Changed the game when coming on, with West Ham switching to a 3-4-3 formation. A stunning strike taken after charging towards goal off a Rice tackle. Continuously causing a threat on the break, even if his execution or decision making was off. Something they had been crying out for in the opening 70 minutes. 7
Flynn Downes
On in the final minutes to add more of a midfield bite into the side. N/A
Pablo Fornals
Added energy, alongside Flynn Downes, with minutes to go. N/A
