West Ham pair Declan Rice and David Moyes win honours at London Football Awards

Declan Rice and David Moyes both beat their Chelsea rivals to win honours at the 2022 London Football Awards.

Having scooped the Young Player of the Year award in 2019, midfielder Rice was named ahead of Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva of the Blues to the Premier League Player of the Year prize on Thursday night.

“This is going up in the trophy cabinet for sure!” he told the ceremony, having also beaten teammate Jarrod Bowen to the gong.

In the Manager of the Year category, Moyes prevailed for the second year in a row. Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel, Matt Gray of Sutton United and Fulham’s Marco Silva were also nominated.

Knocked out of the FA Cup by Southampton in midweek, West Ham are right in the hunt for a top-four finish and face Sevilla in the Europa League last-16 this month, having topped their group.

On-loan Palace midfielder Gallagher won the Young Player of the Year prize with Chelsea star Edouard Mendy named Goalkeeper of the Year.
