Tyler Adams' value to Leeds United has gone up even more for not playing at the end of last season. As the Whites capitulated in their bid to stay in the Premier League, it was a case of Adams becoming an even better player as his absence was clear for all to see.
Picking up an injury which is understood to still be impacting him as pre-season is about to begin for the Whites, Adams' absence was felt badly last season, as it will be this coming campaign if Leeds can not keep hold of their prized asset. The club are prepared to fight to keep hold of Adams this summer, but know too well it will be a lost cause if a release clause is met or if the sort of money they have valued Adams at is met.
It's understood Leeds have slapped a £40m price tag on Adams, but it doesn't seem to have warned off the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa, two serious contenders for the player's signature. Now, according to the Daily mail, the Hammers have made an approach for Adams.
It's understood no offer is on the table yet, but it shows the wheels have finally started to move around what will be Leeds' big transfer saga of the coming weeks. The report claims that the Hammers are also interested in Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, Southampton’s James-Ward-Prowse and Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes, with David Moyes keeping his options open.

Where West Ham go will depend on were they see the best value for their money and the prices being quoted, plus the possibility of getting a deal done reasonably quickly. That may be a sticking point in the Adams deal, unless Leeds soften their approach and the takeover is completed quickly to allow for everything else to fall into place with the new manager and new plans.
