West Ham injury latest on Emerson and Maxwel Cornet ahead of Leicester City clash

West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an update on injuries to left-back Emerson and winger Maxwel Cornet ahead of Saturday's game with Leicester City.

The Hammers could be without two of their summer signings for their meeting with the Foxes at the London Stadium, with Moyes confirming that Ivorian winger Cornet is absent.

Italian international Emerson was forced off in the Carabao Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers in midweek shortly before the penalty shootout, with Moyes revealing that the Italian broke his nose earlier this week. However, the former Chelsea man still has a chance of being involved.

"Emerson is touch and go because he broke his nose in midweek. He's had it reset," said Moyes on Friday.

"We've got a couple of other knocks and niggles so we'll see for tomorrow. Cornet is definitely out. He won't come back until after the World Cup."

Of the 24-man senior squad at David Moyes’ disposal, Cornet and Emerson are the only known injury concerns ahead of the weekend.

The defeat on Wednesday night to Blackburn means that West Ham go into the tie having lost back-to-back home games in all competitions for the first time since May. Leicester meanwhile have won four of their last five matches in all competitions and sit 14th, a place above West Ham and only narrowly ahead of them on goal difference.
