West Ham injury blow as Graham Potter confirms bad news on Lucas Paqueta

Graham Potter has confirmed Lucas Paqueta is facing another spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in West Ham training this week.

Standard Sport revealed on Tuesday that Paqueta limped out of training ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

In a major blow for the Hammers, Potter has confirmed Paqueta will miss the game at Arsenal and probably the home game against Leicester on February 27.

Paqueta had only just returned from a groin injury that saw him miss the defeat to Chelsea at the start of the month.

Confirming another injury for Paqueta, Potter said on Thursday: “It was a training incident. Just an innocuous one, he went over on his ankle in a collision with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He has rolled his ankle.

“He will be missing for the [Arsenal] game and probably Leicester as well. We will see how he it is but it is swollen a bit.

“We will take it day-by-day but I would imagine a week or two he will be away.”

Vladimir Coufal is still sidelined for the Arsenal game, while Crysencio Summerville remains out until after the March international break.

Potter said: “This weekend will come too soon for Vlad. He has got an outside chance for Leicester.”
