West Ham full-back Ben Johnson handed first England call-up for U21 Euro qualifiers

West Ham full-back Ben Johnson has been handed his maiden international call-up after being named in the England Under-21s squad.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for the Hammers this season and Young Lions boss Lee Carsley has rewarded the defender with a first ever call-up at any level for England.

Johnson, whose contract at the London Stadium was recently extended with a two-year option being taken up, has fierce competition at right-back but can also play on the left of a back four or in midfield.

Arsenal and Tottenham target Djed Spence, on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, has also received a call-up, while Gunners loanee Folarin Balogun keeps his place in the squad.

Former Chelsea defender Tino Livramento is named in the squad as well as ex-Spurs academy player Noni Madueke.
