West Ham fans hit Cristiano Biraghi with a VAPE as Europa League Conference League final halted

The Europa Conference League Final was temporarily halted after West Ham fans pelted Fiorentina players with missiles.

The trend was set early on when plastic cups rained down on Nico Gonzalez after he went down under a challenge from Declan Rice. But things got worse when a vape was thrown from the stand housing Hammers fans in Prague’s Eden Arena, and struck La Viola captain Cristiano Biraghi on the back of the head. The defender was left with blood pouring down his neck from a wound as he sarcastically applauded the English fans.

West Ham's players pleased with fans to behave as the game was stopped momentarily as referee Carlos del Cerro Grande consulted with the UEFA match delegate, but ultimately decided to play on with the objects from the stands no longer posing a threat to players. The hope is that the message has now been received and the game can continue without any more bad behaviour.

Hammers make up the bulk of the crowd in the 18.000 capacity stadium in Prague. Fans from East London have been pouring into the Czech Republic this week, many without tickets.

Clashes between rival punters occurred around the city earlier today. West ham fans drinking in a city centre bar were set upon by individuals cloaked in black and over 30 arrests were made.

On the pitch, David Moyes is aiming to win a first major European trophy for the club in 58 years. If he fails, then rumours are circulating that he'll be sacked, which could then see him thrown into the mix to become Celtic's new manager.
