West Ham United defender Harrison Ashby made his comeback from injury on Saturday afternoon for the Hammers’ under-21s.
Ashby had not played or been in a matchday squad for either West Ham’s first-team or the under-21s since August, having suffered with a groin injury, with the Scottish right-back playing in a qualifying match for David Moyes’ side in the Europa Conference League against Viborg.
However, until Saturday, Ashby had not been in a matchday squad since the Premier League to Brighton and Hove Albion less than 72 hours after featuring against Viborg.

During his absence, Ashby had been linked with a £2million transfer switch to Premier League rivals Newcastle United, a move that did not happen, with the Scottish defender staying put in east London.
Ashby was back in action for Mark Robson’s side and played the duration of their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in Premier League 2 on Saturday, a game which the young Hammers ended with ten men in after Levi Laing was sent off early in the second half for a last man foul. Fionn Mooney’s goal was the difference in the tie.
West Ham’s under-21s are next in action on Tuesday night when they take on League One side Milton Keynes Dons in the Papa John’s Trophy.
