West Ham confirmed team news as David Moyes makes nine changes to face AZ Alkmaar in second leg

West Ham United boss David Moyes has named his side to face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League at the AFAS Stadion.

The Hammers will look to seal a place in the final of the Europa Conference League against their Dutch opponents, heading into the game with a 2-1 first leg advantage from their London Stadium win a week ago.

As the Irons look to reach a European final for the first time since 1976, Moyes has made nine changes from the heavily-rotated side that lost 2-0 to Brentford on Sunday.

As he has done for European matches all season, Frenchman Alphonse Areola starts in place of Lukasz Fabianski.

Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma and Aaron Cresswell all return to the back four after rests against Brentford at the weekend, with Nayef Aguerd partnering Zouma in the middle to complete the defence.

Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta also return after a rare rest to play in a midfield three with Tomas Soucek, while Michail Antonio returns from a minor calf injury to play in a front three with Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma either side of him.

Those changes see Fabianski, Ben Johnson, Angelo Ogbonna, Emerson, Flynn Downes, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals, Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet all drop to the bench, while right-back Vlaimir Coufal also returns to the bench after missing the last three games with a hamstring issue Striker Gianluca Scamacca (knee) remains sidelined through injury.

Meanwhile, Alkmaar head coach Pascal Jansen has made two changes from the side that beat Emmen 5-1 on Sunday.

West Ham United starting XI: Alphonse Areola; Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Aaron Cresswell; Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta; Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma

Substitutes: Lukasz Fabianski, Joseph Anang, Ben Johnson, Vladimir Coufal, Angelo Ogbonna, Emerson, Flynn Downes, Manuel Lanzini, Maxwel Cornet, Pablo Fornals, Danny Ings, Divin Mubama
