West Ham confirmed 11: David Moyes names team to face Cambridge United with eight players absent

West Ham United boss David Moyes has named his side to face Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium.

The Hammers will look toreturn to winning ways after losing their last three matches before pausing for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar 24 days ago.

As the Irons aim to win and in the testimonial match for U’s captain Greg Taylor, Moyes has named his side to face Cambridge.

First-choice goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski starts in goal, with Ben Johnson, Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell making up the back four in front of him.

In midfield, Flynn Downes partners Conor Coventry, with Jarrod Bowen, Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals making up the attacking trio.

Up front, Michail Antonio leads the line and despite rumours of an injury, Gianluca Scamacca makes the bench, with Darren Randolph, Vladimir Coufal, Said Benrahma and Emerson the other senior players on the bench.

Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta, Alphonse Areola and Nayef Aguerd are all absent due to being with their countries at the World Cup. Thilo Kehrer and Germany were only eliminated five days ago, while centre-back Kurt Zouma is absent having recently undergone knee surgery.

With players absent due to the World Cup and injuries, academy players Krisztian Hegyi, Will Greenidge, Pierre Ekwah, Levi Laing, Kamarai Swyer, Keenan Appiah-Forson, Freddie Potts, Michael Forbes and George Earthy all make the bench have been included in the squad.

Winger Maxwel Cornet (calf) isstill out, having been forced off on his full league debut for the club against Wolverhampton Wanderersover two months ago. Midfielder Tomas Soucek is also absent.
