West Ham and Man City confirmed team news as David Moyes names first 11 of the 2022/23 season

West Ham United boss David Moyes has named his side to face Manchester City in their opening Premier League game of the season this afternoon.

The Hammers will look to cause an upset to start of their 2022/23 campaign against a City side who lifted last season’s league trophy less than three months ago.

As the Irons aim to avoid defeat to start off the new season, Moyes has made three changes from the last friendly against RC Lens eight days ago.

Lukasz Fabianski keeps his place in goal with Kurt Zouma the only natural centre-back in the squad. Ben Johnson or Aaron Cresswell will play at centre-back with him, with Vladimir Coufal completing the back four. Craig Dawson and Issa Diop are both out of the squad.

Declan Rice captains the side in the heart of midfield with Tomas Soucek. Jarrod Bowen, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Michail Antonio start as the front four, with Gianluca Scamacca fit enough for the bench.

Nayef Aguerd (ankle) remains sidelined until mid-October while recent signing Maxwel Cornet arrived at the Hammers too late from Burnley to be involved against the Sky Blues. Angelo Ogbonna misses out after featuring for the under-21s against Fulham on Friday on his road to recovery.

Meanwhile, City boss Pep Guardiola has made two changes from the side that lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the Community Shield last Saturday.
